About This Episode The gospel is the foundation of everything we believe as Christians, and the reason we started Marriage After God. In this episode we discuss the single most important topic we will ever discuss on this podcast. There is both infinite simplicity and complexity in the gospel, but our goal today is to simplify it: God created man, man sinned, and God sent Jesus, the second Adam, to die and rise again for all who believe. Aaron shares vulnerably that he became a Christian at 17 and was raised in a Christian home, yet it wasn't until a few years ago that he could fully verbalize the gospel. Our goal is that this episode clarifies the gospel for you and helps you get comfortable sharing it with others.

About Aaron & Jennifer Smith Aaron and Jennifer Smith are the founders of Marriage After God and authors of Husband After God, Wife After God, and Marriage After God. Married since 2007 and raising six children in Bend, Oregon, they started Husband Revolution and Unveiled Wife to share what God was teaching them, not from a place of having it figured out, but as fellow travelers pointing couples back to Jesus.

In This Episode Why simplify the gospel — Aaron's confession that he couldn't fully verbalize the gospel for years. God created man — The gospel begins with God as Creator. Man sinned — Why all of us stand under God's just wrath apart from Christ. Jesus, the second Adam — Christ died as the propitiation for our sins and rose again. Believe and confess — Salvation for all who believe and confess Jesus as Lord. Reading Romans — Chapters 1-7 as man without Christ, chapters 8-16 as man in Christ. Grace, not works — Ephesians 2:8 and the grace God gave us, whose name is Jesus. The gospel and freedom — How believing he was truly free (1 Corinthians 10:13) broke Aaron's pornography addiction.
