About This Episode Setting goals with your spouse is one of the best ways to cultivate hopefulness and togetherness. Knowing your purpose and what you are working on as a team builds unity in marriage. After 11 years of setting goals together every year, we share why goal setting has been so good for our marriage: it builds security, forces us to communicate, and invites us to sacrifice for each other. We walk through the practical side, from using date nights to set and check in on goals, to writing them down where we will see them, to celebrating the wins. Most importantly, we talk about committing our plans to the Lord and holding them with open hands.

Write it down — Posting goals somewhere visible, like a whiteboard or mirror. Break it down — Turning big goals into weekly and monthly tasks. Where to start — Individual passions, business, spiritual life, marriage and intimacy, and finances. Celebrate the wins — Marking victories together along the way. If the Lord wills — Committing plans to God and letting Him redirect or shelve them.
