Asking God To Search Our Hearts
Show notes
About This Episode The Bible tells us that the crucible is meant to refine, and God will allow things in our lives that act as crucibles to bring the dross of our character to the surface. Aaron and Jennifer share how messiness in relationships at their home church led to a late-night conversation on the couch, where God convicted them both about harshness, impatience, and short tempers with their kids. They walk through Psalm 139 and David's prayer, "Search me, O God, and know my heart," and challenge the self-justifying thought that we are not that bad. Real change comes through the power of the Holy Spirit, which they illustrated for their son with Iron Man's suit.
About Aaron & Jennifer Smith Aaron and Jennifer Smith are the founders of Marriage After God and authors of Husband After God, Wife After God, and Marriage After God. Married since 2007 and raising six children in Bend, Oregon, they started Husband Revolution and Unveiled Wife to share what God was teaching them, not from a place of having it figured out, but as fellow travelers pointing couples back to Jesus.
