13 Marriage Devotional: Pride
Show notes
About This Episode Pride quietly damages marriages by fueling defensiveness, distance, and conflict. In this devotional, we define pride as self-worship, the sin behind Satan's fall in Isaiah 14, and we name how it shows up between spouses: needing to be right, control, defensiveness, the silent treatment, keeping score, comparison, and jealousy. We look at why God lists pride among the things He hates in Proverbs 6, and how pride blocks reconciliation, quenches the Holy Spirit, and convinces us we don't need God. The answer is humility: submitting to God, keeping in step with the Spirit, and laying our pride down so we can love each other well.
