12 Marriage Devotional: The Armor of God
Show notes
About This Episode Our battle is not against each other. In this devotional, we walk through Ephesians 6 piece by piece and talk about what the armor of God practically looks like in a Christian marriage. The armor is God's armor, which is why Paul tells us to be strong in the Lord, and we look at David refusing Saul's untested armor to face Goliath in God's name. We talk about how truth keeps a couple unified and builds vulnerability and trust, how Christ's righteousness covers us while we also practice righteousness, and how faith, salvation and the word of God help us resist the enemy's lies, temptation and fear. Our hope is to remind couples that God has already given us everything we need to stand strong. We simply need to put it on daily.

In This Episode God's armor, not ours — standing firm in the Lord's strength instead of our own David and Saul's armor — why David faced Goliath in God's name, not in untested gear The belt of truth — how truth stabilizes a marriage and builds unity, vulnerability and trust The breastplate of righteousness — Christ's righteousness covering us, and practicing righteousness daily The shoes of peace and the shield of faith — standing firm against temptation and fear The helmet of salvation — guarding what we believe against the father of lies The sword of the Spirit — God's word as the only offensive weapon in the armor Prayer — the thread that ties every piece of the armor together
Scripture Referenced Ephesians 6 — be strong in the Lord and put on the full armor of God 1 John 3:7 — whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as He is righteous 1 Samuel 17 — David refuses Saul's armor and faces Goliath in the name of the Lord
