03 Marriage Devotional: Distinct yet complementary roles of a husband and wife
Show notes
About This Episode In week three of our 30-week devotional series through Husband After God and Wife After God, we look at the distinct yet complementary roles God gives husbands and wives. Aaron opens with Jesus washing the disciples' feet and asks husbands whether we think we are greater than our Master. He describes servant leadership as leading by example rather than by force: initiating reconciliation, leading family Bible time, and being gentle and understanding, like a dance lead who cues his partner instead of yanking her. Jennifer talks about the wife's call to be a helper and companion, admits she once had a one-sided view of companionship, and shares the story of washing Aaron's feet after he returned from a mission trip. Together we reframe Ecclesiastes 4 around each spouse walking closely with God, with your spouse as the third cord.
