About This Episode This episode kicks off an eight-part series working through Jesus' teaching on prayer in Matthew 6, one or two verses at a time, and pulling out lessons for our personal prayer lives and our marriages. We start by asking why Jesus had to teach His disciples to pray at all, even though they were raised on prayer, and conclude that prayer is something we learn. Then we focus on Matthew 6:5 and Jesus' warning not to pray like the hypocrites who love to be seen by others. We unpack what a hypocrite is, an actor wearing a mask, and examine our own motives: praying to impress, to manipulate a spouse, or simply to check a box, instead of genuinely seeking God in faith.
