Self-Discrepancy: Who We Are vs Who We Want To Be
Show notes
About This Episode If we are honest, we all recognize a discrepancy between who we are and who we desire to be. Aaron and Jennifer kick off 2023 by confessing a difficult season of irritability and disconnection in their own marriage, and how God used it to highlight the gap between their words and their walk. Jennifer shares why discrepancy became her word for the year, and together they explore self-discrepancy theory, the frustration it produces, and the freedom of Romans 8:1. The answer, they say, is not striving toward a better version of yourself, but surrendering to Christ and abiding in Him.
About Aaron & Jennifer Smith Aaron and Jennifer Smith are the founders of Marriage After God and authors of Husband After God, Wife After God, and Marriage After God. Married since 2007 and raising six children in Bend, Oregon, they started Husband Revolution and Unveiled Wife to share what God was teaching them, not from a place of having it figured out, but as fellow travelers pointing couples back to Jesus.
